TRINIDAD. 1806 (Aug 8). FRENCH OCCUPATION. Entire letter from TRINIDAD during the Napoleonic Wars to BRIGNOLLES, France datelined inside ´Isle de Trinité, 8 Aout 1806´ and struck on arrival with COLONIES PAR/BORDEAUX in black and charged 12 decimes due. A rare and interesting entire. Trinidad was awarded to Britain after the Treaty of Amiens at the end of the War.

St. Thomas W.I´ fowarder´s double oval handstamp (struck on front and back) and US. 10 cts. yellow stamp tied by N. YORK STEAMSHIP circular datestamp. Very fine and rare use from Trinidad to the U.S. via St. Thomas. Cert. PF´2015.

Cover then docketed (at Panama ?) and noted as for ´Ship Repulse´. Reverse with St. Thomas transit cds (Sept 2) and manuscript ´4´ (pence) of split rate. A very rare and appealing cover. The collection inc covers to a wide range of countries and is written up to a high standard giving the postage rates relevant to each cover. The majority are to European destinations but a good number are to the USA and other non European destinations. A large number of adhesives are used inc hospital charity stamps. A small number are registered and some are sent express. A really good modern postal history lot.
