CUBA. 1856. MATANZAS (Cuba) a BUENOS AIRES. Privately carried to Canary Islands, forwarded by JOSÉ Mª GARCÍA / STA. CRUZ DE TENERIFE / Rcda. Mzo. 30 (blue mark on reverse) and delivered to the spanish post franking the letter with a pair of 2 reales purple stamp cancelled with oval grill. In this period the letters addressed to Argentina were processed via the British Post Office upon payment of 1 schilling. Crowned mark PAID / AT / TENERIFE and 1/- manuscript rate. Letter crossing the Atlantic twice, exceptional postage combination and the only known with these characteristics. Ex Alamany. Cert. GRAUS.
