Cover from SAN JUAN to CÁDIZ franked by Antilles 50 c., green pair (Edifil 23) cancelled by oval network obliterator with FRANCO alongside and PUERTO RICO cds (Dec 27) in black, in combination with Great Britain 1 d. red and 6 d. lilac tied by bold "C61" of San Juan in black. Reverse with Puerto Rico British P.O. cds and London transit. An exceptionally attractive cover in the foremost quality. Only two covers known with this franking combination. Ex collection Hugh Wood. Great Britain 1864 1 d. red pl. 180, 1858/79 2 d. blue pl. 14 and 1873 3 d. rose pl. 18 with eight examples, all used on double weight entire letter (2/8d.) from MAYAGÜEZ to GENOVA (Italy) tied by bold strikes of the F85 obliterator in black with MAYAGUEZ PORTO RICO /PAID cds alongside (Aug 25). LONDON / PAID transit cds in red also on obverse (Sept 13) and reverse with Genova arrival cds (Sept 15). One 3 d. rose with closed tear at top but a phenomenal and most appealing franking for the specialist. Certs. PHILATELIC FOUNDATION (1984) and SISMONDO (2005). Ex A. Bollen and G. Roca.
