✉ REPUBLICA DOMINICANA. 1898 (Sept 4). 3c. deep blue postal stationery card used to LUBECK cancelled with date in manuscript and by German West India Line HESPERIA handstamp in purple, fine strike of AUS WESTINDIEN-P.HAMBURG DAMPFER-ÜBER CÖLN cds below. Lubeck arrival cds at left (Sept 23). Rare and very fine usage, only a few cards known to travel by German Paquebot.

A unique item of mail from the French Post Office in Egypt.

Repeated strike at right and Italy 1863 40c. carmine applied for onward transmission, tied by numeral 234 in black with ALESSANDRIA D´EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE cds (Feb 21). Framed PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / ITALIANI alongside and reverse with Alexandria cds, Brindisi cds and Salerno arrival. A rare and fine cover.

Cancelled by DEUTSCHE SEEPOST-OSTASIATISCHE-HAUPTLINIE cds, and then carried by French Paquebot to Singapore and struck by octagonal LIGNE N-PAQ.FR.Nº10 datestamp. N.I.AGENT SINGAPORE cds at left (June 23) and Medan and Bindje cds´s of receipt (June 27). A rare and unusual usage.

✉ ETIOPIA. 1930 (15-III). ADDIS to ROME. UNRECORDED FLIGHT. Franked by complete set air provisionals type 3, arrival cds on back. VERY RARE flight not listed in Muller and N. Cape. NOTE: No mail flight was recorded on that day, but Vicomte De Sibour, in his Gipsy Moth, flew during that time all over Ethiopia under permission of Regent Ras Tafari. It is possible that he had cancelled the letter in Addis, then flew to Eritrea were he handed it over to a pilot friend for delivery in Rome. It was customary then.
